Aunt Chrissy gets crafty!

Hi everyone, and welcome back to "Aunt Chrissy's Words of Wisdom"!

I'd like to tell you about some of the crafts I've been working on since my last post.

"If you must draw flowers badly, at least draw them boldly." - Martin Luther, badly paraphrased
First of all, I'm continuing to work in my sketchbook. I was inspired by a couple of people online: the great Lynda Barry, and a gentleman named Danny Gregory, whose "Sketchbook Skool" I highly recommend.

Second, I started making jewelry - specifically, rosaries. You see, I used to make them when I was in high school (a loonnng time ago!) and was delighted to find that the same company I'd bought my Rosary Kits from then, Lewis and Company, is still in business with a great website.

Rosary I made, in my high school colors. Go Sacred Heart Gremlins, Amen!

Then, after making rosaries for a while, I got interested in jewelry making in general, and started teaching myself different techniques. Being a cheapskate, I am trying to learn on my own, from books and online videos.

And related to that cheapskate mentality is my latest hobby: making PAPER beads! Who knew? Well, apparently a lot of people - I'm always the last one on the bandwagon.

Paper beads from old music sheets. What a concept!
Nevertheless, it's an enjoyable pastime and I highly recommend it - and will probably post about it ad nauseum, till I find something else, or win the lottery.

Anyway - that's what's up with Aunt Chrissy!

So - what's up with YOU??

And ... ta dahhhh!! I was able to change the name - yay!

I've left the URL the same, so the three of you who've bookmarked it won't have to change your settings.

I'll be back soon with a new post and a new outlook on blogging. Namely, that it's a pain in the butt, but it has to be done, once in a while.

It's been a while ...

Hi everyone!

Yes, I know it's been a while since I've posted ... three years, to be specific. Sorry about that!

I seem to have left a trail of abandoned websites and blogs scattered across the Internet. It's what they call the "Bright Shiny Object" syndrome - only in my case it's "Bright Shiny New Blog" syndrome.

Because STARTING a new blog is so much more fun than CONTINUING one, isn't it?

Also, I started this particular blog with a particular theme: The Three Stooges.

See, I love the Stooges. Moe, Larry, Curly, Shemp, Curly Joe, and even (sort of) Joe Besser. And full disclosure: back in my wild single days, I found that telling a guy I liked the Stooges was a sure-fire way to get his full attention, and sometimes even parlay it into a date or two.

But now I'm settled down, happily married, and no longer need a "guy magnet". I still love the Guys - they still make me laugh - but I don't seem to need them as much as I used to.

So it may be that this blog will morph into something else. If possible, I'll change the name of this blog so I can just soldier on. If that's not possible, and I have to start a new one, I'll edit this post and link to the new one.

But I just wanted to say, to all the WOMEN out there, young or old, married or single, gay or straight or whatever: if you love the Three Stooges, you are NOT alone! They were truly sweeties and deserved a lot more attention and respect than they got during their lifetimes.

So this one last time, I'll just say:  KEEP ON NYUKIN' !!
